Special Edition Thar 700


Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), a part of the USD 20.7 billion Mahindra Group, has announced the launch of Thar 700 special edition.

With the launch of The Thar 700, limited  edition, the first gen bids adieu and the greatest offroader is set to drive into the sunset for good. So, the special THAR edition is your last chance to earn this piece of elegance. Only 700 more units of this iconic 4×4 off-road SUV will be made and each one of them will have a special badge on the vehicle with the signature of Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra group which will be the higlight of the special addition.

First Mahindra vehicle was built in India in 1949 and the Thar 700 aptly marks the 70 years legacy of Mahindra.

The Thar 700, a limited special edition of the iconic brand, will be available in an all-new Aquamarine colour, in addition to the popular colour of Napoli Black.

Few changes have been made in exterior and interior of the the Thar 700, the special edition. It gets five-spoke, 15-inch alloy wheels which were earlier available on the previous-gen Scorpio and Marksman. As part of the special package, the Thar’s signature edition gets black decals on its bonnet lid and a silver finish on its front bumper.

The limited special edition Thar 700 also features ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). We will also notice leatherette upholstery with THAR logo on the front seats. However, the model will not come with a driver airbag, a passenger seat-belt reminder or rear parking sensors.It has been said that Mahindra will finish building the Thar 700 prior to the July 1, 2019 deadline.

It will be priced at Rs. 9.49 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is around Rs 50,000 more than the standard Thar CRDe 4WD. Initially the second-gen Thar will get a 140hp or 120hp diesel engine and Mahindra in order to to expand the Thar’s portfolio by adding a petrol engine later is also on the cards. The company is expected to introduce next-gen Thar in India at Auto expo 2020.
